Iqra's Kitchen

Discovering the Delights of Pakistani Cuisine

My first Pakistani Cuisine experience was amazing! We were around the passport office and needed some delicious food to fill our minds after an exhausting passport document processing. Just next to this building, we saw a name that was unique to us - Iqra’s Kitchen. We googled what kind of food they serve, lo and behold! Pakistani food! Our mouths started watering thinking about Pakistani cuisine -  flavourful, aromatic and soul filling. We entered and were greeted by a happy gentleman - Afzal Khan. When we reached late afternoon, he told us that only the chicken dishes were available and the rest were over. It is a small food joint which is run by a man with a big heart. The rates are reasonable and you get what you pay for. For us, the food did take some time to be ready, but he was working by himself in the kitchen, so we were okay with it. There are a limited number of items on the menu and I feel that those are good enough options to choose from. As mentioned earlier, this is a small food joint, so eating here is restricted to 4 chairs, a take-out would be a better option.

So, we ordered Chicken tikka, Chicken biryani and Seekh kabab. The Chicken tikka was perfectly coated in spices, soft and juicy. Worth trying, comes with a mint chutney dip and some red onions. For us, the Chicken biryani was the star of the show. It was aromatic and flavourful and low on the spice - just perfect for us. The chicken to rice quantity was good enough and two people could easily share this dish. The biryani comes with raita (yoghurt dip). The Seekh kabab was amazing, it was soft, perfectly cooked and came with a mint chutney dip too.

Overall, I personally loved everything that I had here. If you are somewhere on Dixie Rd and are looking for some really good Pakistani food, this is the place to be. I want to give the:

Food - 4/5

Service - 4/5

Ambience - 3/5
